ControlNetXL (CNXL) - A collection of Controlnet models for SDXL

(13.01.2025 - First NoobAI controlnets uploaded by Eugeoter)
    (12.01.2025 - First Illustrious controlnets uploaded: windsingai-pose & -tile)

This collection strives to create a convenient download location of all currently available Controlnet models for SDXL. Please do read the version info for model specific instructions and further resources. If you are the author of one of these models and don't want it to appear here, please contact me to sort this out. The naming scheme of the files follows lllyasviel's from here https://huggingface.co/lllyasviel/sd_control_collection/tree/main.

CAUTION: The variants of controlnet models are marked as checkpoints only to make it possible to upload them all under one version, otherwise the already huge list would be even bigger. If you use downloading helpers the correct target folders are extensions/sd-webui-controlnet/models for automatic1111 and models/controlnet for forge/comfyui.

Requirements for Automatic1111: at least version 1.5.0, better upgrade to the latest version of 1.6.0. + sd-webui-controlnet extension v0.400+. Bugs or weird behaviour might occur. If you encounter any irregularities you can join us on our discord and ask for support or get in contact with the developers of Automatic1111/Controlnet via github/huggingface.

A huge thanks to all the authors, devs and contributors including but not limited to: abovzv, bdsqlsz, BRIA AI, CVL-Heidelberg, destitech, the diffusers institution, Eugeoter, h94, Hetaneko, HighCWu, huchenlei, lllyasviel, kataragi, kohya-ss, Mikubill, PromeAI, SargeZT, ShermanG, Stability.ai, TencentARC, TheMistoAI, thibaud, ttplanet, windsingai and xinsir.

Everything structured like shit. All in one pile.

    So low effort job. Shame.

    eurotakuJan 16, 2025· 1 reaction

well, what kind of piles would you prefer?

List where they structured in type and base model.
    Like:
    Vanilla SDXL
    canny: bdsqlsz, Stability.ai, diffusers(small|mid|full)
    depth: bdsqlsz, diffusers (small|mid|full|zoe), Stability.ai
    BRIA AI
    canny: BRIA AI,
    Pony v6
    canny: <nothing lol>
    IllustriousXL
    canny: Chenkin

    NoobAI EPS
    canny: Eugeoter, Laxar,
    NoobAI V-pred
    canny: Laxar,
As example of structure. So you can see model types and CN types. Some of them can be cross-used, but it leads to some wobbly results and unpredictable behavior, so better do know for what type SDXL it optimized.
Also group by type of Controlnet - make easier to find needed type.
Your method of highlight new models by bold font - also nice way to inform for new model.

(Also I like that idea to make centralized repo for all Controlnets and links to their HuggingFace)

@Leonmitchelli yeah, that was my original idea, but the main reason for this list is to offer visitors a full overview of all models with quick access via links, cause the existing version list at the top of a model page is awful for such huge amounts of versions (endless scrolling). but i'll give it a try (when i find time), promised

    LeonmitchelliJan 16, 2025

@eurotaku You can combine link access with list. They are not mutually exclusive. And make it even more usable.

@Leonmitchelli sure, but a more structured list will probably be way longer than the current one, so that you would have to unhide the description to see the full list. that is basically what i wanted to avoid (at all costs :D ) when i chose this format. people could misinterpret the exact placement of models on such a list as a personal recommendation by me, but i want to give all models the same visibility (and the same quick access). i'll see if i find a better compromise.

Kinda agree. I just want an openpose model that works on Pony and Illustrious. I've legit no idea what models are for what checkpoints and just seems like a mess. I don't think prioritizing 'not clicking more info' is the best thing to do

    eurotakuJan 20, 2025

@turkey910 keep in mind when i started this collection i never would've thought such a clear differentiation between several sdxl based ecospheres (sdxl, pony, illustrious&co) could be even necessary. sd1.4/5 just didn't have that, you had illasviels models, the ipadapters and that was it basically. but it is great to see so many people creating controlnets now, for flux e.g., too, even if it makes finding and organizing them way more difficult.
