Edit: Uploaded a baked VAE version that's otherwise the same as the original, which should solve the issues people are having with washed out images. If you're already using your own VAE, there's no need to download the baked VAE version. Metadata from my example post on this version is not visible on Civit because the images were created in ComfyUI. See this post and this post for prompting examples.

A Hyperrealistic model based on EnvyHyperdrive and NewReality that makes photorealistic generations that are thematically and visually similar to my other models, except, ya know, photorealistic. :)

Also, if you want, let me know if you do merge anything into this and I'll add it to the suggested resources as long as there's room.

Do you use a VAE ? Is it Baked In ? My Last step always adds a layer of grey...

Is your last step a HiRes Fix?

    SinfulSixDec 18, 2023

@Socalista Nop, but thank you for answering, I suspected the VAE settings. And indeed, the SDXL models I used before all had VAE baked in. Idk about this one, but I downloaded the original SDXL VAE on hugging face, used it for generating, and the "grey" colors disappeared. It's much more vivid and saturated now. If you have any ideas why this happened, I'd be interested to know.

@ddduf995656 I don't bake in VAEs, so that's almost certainly the problem. I use SDXL VAE.

fyi the perception of "the last step adding a washed out / gray look" is actually just a product of the low quality of previews in Automatic1111 webui (and maybe ComfyUI, i haven't used it). If you use the max-quality preview you will see that it was always somewhat washed out from the start during generation without VAE.

@_Envy_ I hope you baked in the fixed fp16 version from https://huggingface.co/madebyollin/sdxl-vae-fp16-fix/blob/main/sdxl.vae.safetensors and not the actual standard one from StabilityAI. The fixed one is twice as fast and uses half as much VRAM. That should go into every model.

Love this - but note that to use it with ComfyUI you want to load a VAE separately to avoid a faded gray wash. You might want to consider baking a VAE in.
