    Jody Vanessa Watley, better known as Jody Watley (Chicago, Illinois, January 30, 1959) is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. During the 1970s and early 1980s, she was a member of the R&B/Funk band Shalamar, which scored many hits, especially in the United Kingdom. She has collaborated with artists such as Madonna, Eric B. & Rakim, George Michael, 4hero, Janet Jackson and others. In 1988, she won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist (as a solo artist) and has been nominated for three Grammy Awards.

    Watley is best known for her 1988 hit "Looking For A New Love", which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100.
