In some ways I find it quite peculiar that in our current silly times of "ALL THE PRETTY ARTWORKS", these things manage to survive.

I guess the deliberately "ugly simplicity" speaks to some, and their existence is even necessary for 'pretty and perfect' artwork generators to have a valid Fail State to train against.
