..BAKED-VAE v0.3.4.1: experimental version.
i have been enjoying it, so just thought i would push and let everyone try it as well. i still think, overall, version 0.2 is better. but for strong, dramatic lighting, give this one a try!
better backgrounds. in general i have noticed the backgrounds having a bit more detail.
lighting behaves a little different. more dramatic, without the aid of extra networks.
negative things
Background details can sometimes work against you if your environment is meant to be simple. Prompting specific background elements can help, but as always, avoid overdoing it. If you want a simple background, make sure to explicitly say so in your prompt—don’t leave it up to chance.
..BAKED-VAE v0.2: this version has a slight different style. however, the core focus is still lighting. overall, i have noticed an increase in vibrance in generations, as well as improved lighting.
..BAKED-VAE v0.1: i baked a VAE in to make it better for onsite generation, and local gen as well (for those who dont load a VAE separately). in general, lighting and colors are noticeably better! Because of the baked VAE, this is the ideal version for onsite use.
illustrious-XL v0.1: First illustrious version. i tried to keep the style similar to the pony version, but ultimately wanted better lighting, and more flexible style overall. Will probably keep updating until im happy, but ive switched focus lately to Loras over checkpoints and photos in general. ill get to it eventually.
v0.8.1: the better version. this version was supposed to be 0.8 (i have no idea how i uploaded the wrong version. sleepy brain? oops). better results without style loras, but still compliments them very well. still looking for feedback.
v0.8: my first (public) pony merge. looking feedback to improve the newer version that’s in the works.

I'm having big problems with generating, it keeps washing out the image at the last step, with the same generation settings. The lovely harsh dark tones become desaturated. This is using Forge UI, and I've only had this problem with this model
unlike other models, it does not have a baked in vae so you need to load one separately. alternatively, if you can bare with me, im actually in the process of updating the model (today most likely) including a baked vae. so for now, my suggestion is to use a vae, or give me a few hours ! sorry!
New version works great with on-site generation.
I was running into issues with the on-site Hi-res fix option with the previous version where it seemed to not use the selected VAE. This new version fixes that.
Now I can spend all that excess blue buzz when I am not at home.
welp that didn’t last long.. site generator changes rolled back.. we are no longer on site friends 😞
Still can't find checkpoint better than this, and there is practically no big reason to move from this except my stupid wish to generate some new characters without loras or trying some other styles. Considering how little it known i think it is blessing (sorry for overdramatizing) to using it. <3

I agree. I try out new stuff pretty often, but this has been my primary choice for image generation.
I found this one by accident. THIS IS THE BEST CHECKPOINT, it might sound like a heavy testament, but, I have tried this one for a while, There are almost no errors in the generation, no extra fingers, weird eyes or expression, etc... I don't know how this isn't more popular.

@Der_Machtige_Ritter sadly yes. its out of my hands with the new auction system. someone was apparently kind enough to bid a lot of buzz to get the checkpoint featured and available onsite for a week. since i dont have that kind of buzz right now, im unable to bid for it again, but if enough people bid a little bit for it, it could get featured for another week

I am having too much fun trying this model, today. Thanks to killedmyself for creating it and making me notice this hidden gem!
Some random note:
- the style is animesque (the very good kind), full stop. BUT the model is quite sensible to style LoRas (be gentle with the weight!), so if you prefer something else it's very easy to change
- it is very resilient: if it can't manage something it gives you something anyway, without image aberrations and usually little nonsense. A couple of times I was even surprised (positively) by the result
- it can do a lot of things if you manage to ask for it: I managed to get transparency better than some slimegirl LoRa, for example, and (lol) it draws furries BETTER than almost every specialized furry model
- you HAVE TO ask for a lot of things, in fact: its go-to lazy way is to hid hands and feet, and it has kind of a strong propension for close-ups. But it will render lovely limbs and wide shots, if you pointedly write it
- it works very well with the danbooru tags... EXCEPT the grey color one. Better days wants you to spell it "gray". This annoys me more than it should XD. AND it even works well with hypothetical sentences: this really surprised me

I love this checkpoint, it's made some of my favorite images. It's also super delicate to work with. I get maybe 1 image I'm happy with every ~100 generations (using a lot of other tools as well though). I hope you keep working to improve the model!
Quality, detail, contrast—this is the best checkpoint ever created. The work was done with soul, and for me, this work is Top-1. I made a bunch of art with him.

@Illyriath sorry for the troubles, and its annoying for me too.
its onsite because of the on site auction. the top 200 bids at the end of the week are placed on the site generator. so (when i can remember to bid) it is placed on site at the end of the auction period for 1 week.
i dont know if civit still just places models on the site generator permanately, but i cant do it, they dont do it for me (if they even can), so my only option is to keep using the auction system. and since i am only human, and dont have unlimited buzz, sometimes forget or miss a week.
other users can bid FOR models themselves, so if you bid (even a little bit) for the model you want onsite, it helps secure a spot on the generator for the week
