Fun Fact: any species that has that many males, living around one female, is an egg laying species. which means they're probably all smurfing on smurf eggs in the pond OR Papa Smurf uses his teeth to smurf off the other smurf's smurfs, and thats why they call him Big Papa
one day a young smurf will grow up, too strong for papa smurf to smurf and they'll smurf to the smurf over who has the rights to smurf with Smurfette.
also red mushrooms are often toxic which probably means they make their homes there as a defense agains predation, ingesting the toxin themselves...the blue coloration is a warning sign to predators.
Gargamel is probably just tired of them laying blueberries in his water by the thousands, then poisoning his cats when they hatch and start squirming around the yard
