Suzanne's XL Mix
Suzanne’s Mix is made because of a request from Suzanne. I thought it would be a fun challenge. It's not meant for anyone else, but you can download and use it anyway. It attempts to capture some of the composition and aesthetic of RealCartoon-XL by 7whitefire7 and enhance it with some of the more risqué qualities and capabilities of select models. It was much more difficult than I thought it would be, and the earlier versions were too much of a failure for me to post here; therefore, you’ll see that Suzanne's XL Mix starts with version 3
Version 8.0
A new attempt at an old project, I wanted to bring in some refinement and knowledge into Suzanne's model. Version 8.0 is an experiment, but so far, it seems capable of generating some striking images while keeping most of the knowledge of Version 7.0. The newer version generates much more realistic images but still can summon up some of the aesthetics from RealCartoon to add just a bit of surrealism to a scene.

Love v5! Trying out 5.1 now and wondering if I've got something set wrong. Every image is coming out with weird artifacts and almost vein-like "cracks" across the images. Can't figure out why - using same prompt/neg/scheduler combo I did for 5. Should it be a diff scheduler? Thankyee
**Edit: Nevermind - I guess it just really doesn't like Euler and needs a dpm!
It's the extra noise and all that enhances the detail in this model. A few samplers can't work with it. If you like Euler, you can usually use Euler a instead of a dpm.
@Dark_infinity Oh nah I was just re-running a random previous v5 generation on v5.1 (that randomly happened to use euler), but it seems 5.1 works great with non-euler samplers. Looks great!
I noticed some differences between 5 and 5.1 as well. You do need to modify some settings when moving between the two, but that's not a bad thing once you've worked out the differences. dpmpp_3m_sde_gpu + exponential works well for me, with no skin loras needed in 5.1
@swedishViking Yea not bad differences - just startling at first, but switching up samplers did the trick - it's a good update!
@Picky_Pickles @swedishViking any chance ya'll might want to test out an experimental version of this mix? I'm trying a new method and have gotten some really good results, but I need others with a variety of platforms and prompts to run it through the ringers.
@Dark_infinity Sure - I'd be happy to! How?
@Picky_Pickles I’ll post up the model soon for testing. So far it looks like it’s just as good as the version 5 models, but better subject renders with many fewer watermarks.
@Picky_Pickles Its up now at https://civitai.com/models/272194?modelVersionId=306802
Thanks for this new version!,
it looks very good.
I'll try it today and come back here with pictures and comments.
Try out the test model at https://civitai.com/models/272194/suzannes-xl-testing-mix, and let me know your critique. I thought 5.1 would be one of the best versions of this model I could make, but the new one may be better from some standpoints. There may be a few more things I want to try, but that's the first one listed as 6.0 Test on that model page.
@Dark_infinity Yes, thank you.
I've already started trying it out and I think version 6 is better, but I haven't done much testing.
And my problem is that I have very different results between Fooocus and Ruined Fooocus, but it's not specific to this model, I have the same problem with all the models, every time I try to reproduce an image from a model it's always different and I suppose it would be the same with A1111...
Have you tried Fooocus?
@Suzanne other than running in Python script, I've used only three programs and Fooc0us isn't one of them. I am intrigued by their user experiment promises, but I spend most of my time hacking apart models instead of generating images, so that's not important for me. I typically use A1111 or ComfyUI.
That said, I've noticed the biggest difference in generations using the same model is how the seed is generated or how the model handles prompt emphasis and chunking. For example, the emphasis on (girl:1.3) is calculated differently in Automatic and ComfyUI. In addition, long prompts are chunked in A1111, so you can use more than 75 tokens, but the 76th token is treated as important as the 1st token (and so on for multiples). That can lead to some variety in generations.
But back to the topic -- what's better in 6.0 Test? Is anything worse? I can tweak quite a lot still with the new formula, but detailed feedback will help make sure I get it right when I release it.
@Dark_infinity yes, I noticed that the interpretation of the prompts could be different from one software to another.
I need a bit more time to test V6...
But I'll tell you more later this week.
@Suzanne Great! I’m in no hurry, I have other experiments to conduct
That's it, I've posted several series of images, all raw (no retouching). They're not all of the same quality, but they allow you to compare.
Firstly, this version is very good overall, but it loses a little in quality with certain poses that call for "All in one pov", but there too it's very irregular...
I've tried out almost all the styles offered by Ruined Fooocus, including Origami, drawing and clay, just for fun, but it works...
For those who want the prompts and settings, leave a comment, I'll be happy to give them to you.
Last thing: I've used 2 Loras a lot to improve the quality and I can't do without them any more, they're so excellent and I recommend them to you.

https://civitai.com/models/238442/rmsdxl-enhance-xl-tool
Thank you for your excellent work!!!!!!
Thanks for the recommendations Suzanne. I'll try out those loras as well. Moving from 5.0 to 5.1 wasn't just a matter of selecting a new checkpoint, some tweaks are required as you note. Once you get the balance though, the results are amazing.
@Suzanne, what settings do you use with those loras -- strength wise? Do you almost always use it at the same strength for those two or do you vary it a lot when applying them?
@swedishViking It is funny how the smallest tweaks make the biggest differences.
@Dark_infinity I don't remember it very well, but I think it must be between 0.5 and 0.7 but it's in Ruined Fooocus, so I don't know if the results will be the same for everyone...
@Suzanne, I'm experimenting with including the enhance-xl-tool in the model. So far, the differences are either so minor that I can't see them or so drastic that it totally changes the composition. I've stumbled on a new way of merging the models that I've used with this mix with a great deal of success so that I may post a totally new model page to open up some beta testing for people to generate with it and see if they think version 5 is better than the new one. But if I do, that new model will have the enhanced tool included as long as the license doesn't forbid it.
@Suzanne @swedishViking I'm trying something different with this model... not sure if its going to be better, but I posted it up as a test model at https://civitai.com/models/272194?modelVersionId=306802 -- try it out and see what you think.
Oh my f*^k this is good. Thanks!
Just giving the people what they want.
I am not sure what kind of magic you infused in that model. I've ran a test run of 100 photos. Highest rate of perfect hands, and even more surprising feet, I have seen in a long time.
The result of one sampler almost look like it went through a cleanup. Perhaps I've only been lucky or that's the result of strong nsfw loras (my test was sfw, but I have found nsfw models to have better anatomical features).
I'll give a rating once I share images.
It’s very careful analysis and trial and error modifying one block weight at a time at each step. Version 5.1 has extra tweaks to increase the detail and contrast in images, but not all samplers can deal with the extra noise that’s added to produce those effects. Most samplers will work, but others will give you images that essentially look like they were interrupted.
I'm running another test on a method to improve things, but not sure if its significantly better to be a new version. Its up at https://civitai.com/models/272194?modelVersionId=306802 as a test model.
Hi, here are my initial comments.
(All renders are done with Fooocus) right-click -->open the image in a new tab, to get the full-size image.
- Firstly, the overall quality is much better on the V6, that's for sure.
You can see this in the 2 comparative tests between V5.1 and V6.
- You can also see that NSFW is interpreted differently.
- Overall, when you add (Pixar style) to the prompt the character becomes sharper and I don't know why.
- Finally, for SFW portrait rendering (I mean without the sex act) RealCartoon XL is much better (sorry) you can see it on the third comparison.
Ah, these are very good comparisons and data. So, the V6 Test method is good enough to become the next version of the mix, as it's an advancement over version 5. Unfortunately, I think RealCartoon XL is always going to be better with the SFW generation unless it's fine-tuned for NSFW images... and even then, it may affect the quality. But then again, that's the whole point of the merged model -- to get as close as possible in quality and aesthetics while adding in the NSFW capability. I'll see if anyone else will use and add information about v6 test, then start playing with it for a new release as Version 6.
@Dark_infinity Great!
You can ask me if you want specific tests!
Here are 3 comparisons for Loras RMSDXL.
https://civitai.com/posts/1260493
As you can see the one called "Darkness_Cinema" improves the quality of the backlight and gives it a cinematographic look, but it's more obvious with realistic models like "rmsdxl Hybrid Turbo XL" or others.
The one called "Enchance" adds detail, but you need to use a weight that's not too heavy.
There is another called "Creative" which allows you to do crazy things, I recommend it.
I hope my contribution will help the community and if you have any questions...
