Really dumb question, but why are people not making as many models for base? Wouldn't that finetune better?
Not dumb. Very short answer: In most cases Base is to train stuff, the other one to generate images.
AI toolkit doesn't even have the option to train distilled iirc
The reason is probably because base and distilled were not separated in CivitAI categories until like a week or two in
Most likely all or nearly all of them are trained in base
Also the size is the same so there's no incentive to train in distilled

Very impressed by how well this checkpoint works for image-to-image workflows. Prompts that are ignored and do nothing with the official checkpoints (distilled and base) work flawlessly with this one. Thank you.
Good to hear, i haven't tried i2i. would you mind to share some images?
This model can generate great NSFW content, yet it loses a lot of details from the original image when used in edit mode.
can you release without distillation baked in?
