In the civitai generator what i'm usually doing is:
Generate an image I like
Use high-res fix on it a first time on 0.4 denoise
Use high-res fix on the new image a second time, this time with 0.2 denoise

Based on some abstract-ish generations by k.a.256
features solid background and some cool lines and patterns around the image subject

Imho the coolest result are achieved with a subject in the center, leaving space for all the weird squiggles, lines and symbols to get placed around it.
Can be a bit "difficult" but can produce some cool/interesting results.
