Shohreh Aghdashloo is an Iranian-American actress known for her distinctive deep voice and powerful performances in film and television. She gained international recognition for her Oscar-nominated role in House of Sand and Fog (2003) and won an Emmy for her performance in the miniseries House of Saddam (2008).

Aghdashloo is also well known for her role as Chrisjen Avasarala in the sci-fi series The Expanse (2015–2022), where she portrayed a formidable UN official navigating interstellar politics. Her other notable appearances include 24, The Stoning of Soraya M., and Star Trek: Beyond.

Beyond acting, she is an advocate for women's rights and social justice issues, often using her platform to speak on these matters.
