PAUL KIDBY — DISCWORLD ILLUSTRATION | LoRA (Krea2)

One weight slider — and the frame fills with the warm, witty, watercolor-and-ink illustrations of Terry Pratchett's Discworld. No photorealism, no dark fantasy: this is the world of caricature with heart , where Commander Vimes' weary scowl, Death's skeletal patience, and the Luggage's many legs are rendered in Kidby's signature earthy watercolors, confident ink outlines, and gently humorous details.

About the Artist & The Style

• Paul Kidby is the official illustrator of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, having created cover art and interior illustrations for nearly every book since the 1990s.

• Signature Concept: Character-first illustration with warmth and wit. Kidby's portraits are never cruel caricatures — they're affectionate, detailed studies that capture the soul of each Discworld character through costume, posture, and expression.

• The Manner: Traditional watercolor and gouache with confident ink outlines. Rich earthy palette (ochres, umbers, deep reds, forest greens) with occasional jewel-tone accents. Backgrounds are often minimal or decorative frames, keeping focus on character.

• Palette & Light: Earthy watercolor tones — burnt sienna, raw umber, ochre yellow, forest green, deep burgundy, with cream paper showing through. Soft natural lighting without harsh shadows.

• The Subjects: Commander Vimes, Death, the Witches (Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg), the Wizards of Unseen University, the City Watch, Cohen the Barbarian, the Luggage, Moist von Lipwig, and dozens of other Discworld characters. Strictly adult characters .
