The common wombat (scientific name: Vombatus ursinus), also known as the bare-nosed wombat, is a marsupial native to Australia. It has a stocky build and is an excellent burrower. Wombats are mostly nocturnal and herbivorous, feeding on grasses and plants. They are solitary and territorial, and their young live in the mother’s pouch for about five months. One quirky fact: wombat poop is cube-shaped.
