Scientific name Setonix brachyurus; native to Rottnest Island and coastal Western Australia; body length 40–54 cm, tail length 25–30 cm; herbivorous diet of leaves, grasses, young shoots and bark; nocturnal, gentle and curious, often active on the ground and fond of basking in the sun.
