Who is Mystique?

Mystique, also known as Raven Darkholme, is a shapeshifting mutant who has been a central figure in the X-Men universe since her debut. She first appeared in Ms. Marvel #16 in 1978, created by artist David Cockrum and writer Chris Claremont. Known for her blue skin, red hair, and yellow eyes, Mystique can mimic the appearance and voice of any person with exquisite precision. Typically portrayed as a foe of the X-Men, Mystique has been both a supervillain and an antiheroine.

She is married to Destiny (Irene Adler), and has previously lived under the assumed name Raven Darkhölme and even Sherlock Holmes.

Mystique appears in several 20th Century Fox X-Men films, portrayed by Rebecca Romijn and Jennifer Lawrence. In these films, Mystique is depicted as the adoptive sister of Charles Xavier.
