She achieved international notoriety thanks to the leading female roles in three major science fiction cinema franchises: she is the Na'vi Neytiri in Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), the officer Nyota Uhura in Star Trek (2009-2016), then she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the role of Gamora appearing in the series Guardians of the Galaxy (2014-) and Avengers (2018-2019).
