Is your workflow adding a 'style' prompt on top of the 'subject' prompt. Using your 'black rapper' prompt at 20 steps with fp16, in forge, I get a way smoother image with none of the crude scribble effect. Is the crudeness of your examples just a trick of your upscaling?
No, nothing added in prompt and no upscale. I'll investigate by trying the LoRa here on the onsite generator and report back to you
I just tried with civitAi onsite generator and this prompt:
A close-up portrait of a black rapper, rendered in black and white. The rapper has a confident expression, showcasing strong facial features and an intense gaze. He wears stylish streetwear, including a baseball cap and oversized sunglasses, with a hint of jewelry visible. The background is subtly blurred, emphasizing the subject while maintaining an urban feel.
and it works as intended. I don't know exactly what it can be. I vaguely remember that forge applies some modification to prompt during gen but I'm not sure that's the case anymore
