The time, date, weather, local news, information on the previous and following programs, the Tokaido Shinkansen being delayed by 8 seconds, the time and location of Gojira's next landing, what the anchor had for breakfast, ... it all has to fit on the screen at the same time.
The reason for all this text simple: In Japan, we do not have internet. We get all our information from the TV. I am typing this text on my TV remote right now!
