Version 1.1 update: This is the best that Eldritch Comics has looked (between v.1 for Flux and multiple versions for SDXL) though it's also prone to simply giving you a photographic output. Use of the trigger word 'illustration' seems like the best way to keep it on track. Referring to 'comics' in some way changes the style, but just 'illustration' works much better. I don't caption training images for style models with style terms so we just need to nudge the photo-centric Flux model gently back toward the LoRA.
The biggest improvement here is the use of black lines - they are much more purposeful in delineating forms. Previous versions of Eldritch Comics tended to have black spiderweb lines criss-crossing forms where it doesn't serve any purpose. But with this iteration, the lines are much more coherent, while the rest of the style retains that rich coloring and naturalistic (non-anime or exaggerated cartoon) drawing style.
Trained on largely the same dataset used for its SDXL counterpart, this model brings strong outlines and bold coloring. With Flux, if your prompt gets too verbose, the output starts turning more photographic, especially the background. You can mitigate this with terms like "comic book illustration" but you tend to lose some of the richness of coloring when doing so.

nice!
thanks! Flux does very well recreating my SDXL models' styles. And it's such a powerful model in terms of prompt following and anatomy. A lot of fun to work with!
yup, having a lot of fun TY 4 the work
thanks again for another epic comic illustration.
will test this out when im home :)
now we need another one like the Legendary Cheyenne style
The only issue this lora has is that it likes to produce text boxes unprompted. Since Flux lacks negative prompts, this can be a real issue.
Really? I honestly haven't ever seen that! Nor do the training images have any text.
@eldritchadam yeah it really seems to love generating text boxes; I suspect part of it is because without any kind of trigger phrase it just reads something like 'comic art style' and extrapolates from there.
@ArmadstheDoom please show me some images and their prompts? Ideally, with seed etc so I can duplicate? I literally have not seen any text box in any of my images with this model.
@eldritchadam I would if I knew how to upload images here. in general, it's any image I generate. I don't know if model makes a difference since I'm using the gguf version, but I don't know that I've ever generated an image without the text box. I wouldn't know how to make you see it.
@ArmadstheDoom scroll down just a little, immediately past this discussion - to the right of the heading 'Gallery' is a blue text button 'Add Post' - you can upload up to 20 images to the post that is created in that process.
@eldritchadam okay. Actually, I have figured out the issue. So apparently, I was under the impression that I was using a dev model; in reality, I was using a schnell model. In particular, this model: https://civitai.com/models/658717/fastflux?modelVersionId=737055
Which was listed as a dev model but in reality is a schnell base with dev merged into it. I'm pretty sure that's causing the issue because I downloaded a q4 dev version and I'm not getting the same issue I did.
