Single file pure HTML tool for viewing and editing AI image metadata locally on your web browser without the need of installation or internet connectivity. The tool is designed specifically for reading and editing image metadata in the Automatic1111/Forge web UI format.
To use, just extract the attached Zip and open the extracted HTML file with the web browser of your choice. Alternatively, you can use the version hosted on Github: https://xypher7.github.io/ai-image-metadata-editor.
I created the tool primarily for publishing images to CivitAI since I often find myself with the annoyance of losing generation data and used resources when inpainting small details into an image.
Github repository URL: https://xypher7.github.io/ai-image-metadata-editor
Features:
View metadata from AI generated images.
Edit and save image metadata in Automatic1111/Forge format.
Metadata from other formats will be partially converted (basic info only).

Drag-and-drop support for adding safetensors files as resources in metadata.
Resource links: LoRA and Checkpoints automatically link to CivitAI.
Offline execution: Runs entirely in your browser—no server, no external dependencies.

Thank you for this and for the LoRA Metadata Viewer!
Thank you! The editing features are excellent. Could you add a JPEG export option? PNG files are too large, and when I convert to JPEG after editing, the data gets lost.
Works great, thank you
This is what I've been looking for all these months! Now I can easily upload my images from tensors.art and other sources! Well, it's not that easy of course, because I have to enter all the data manually, but it solves my metadata problems by 90%.😄
1. useful tool
2. 16 kb size
3. no dependencies
absolutely goated
Goddamn, it really does just work! And OSS too, great stuff dude.
He used it, but despite the fact that I removed from the metadata only 1 Lora who was not really necessary for the generation, Civitai did not recognize me anything anymore, as if the metadata were no longer there.
I'm unable to replicate the issue myself. Can you share the unedited image so that I may take a look?
Ah, that's what I needed. I like to share metadata, but I refuse to just post every piece of garbage that comfy spits out, I have to make stuff presentable. So it gets lost in the edit. VLC won't let me paste it, even though it will show up on an original. And premiere refuses to save it too. Nice to have a quick way to read it outside of comfy, even though it's only stills, for I2V it's enough to fill in some relevant data and to satisfy this new annoying content screener.
Weird... it's stopped working for me on newer civitai pictures. I just checked... pictures generated up to 2025-05-08 showing data as normal, but nothing after 2025-05-13. Is it just me?
Same. Any recent output I made from 2 weeks ago isn't being picked up on the website version either.
Does it need some kind of update?
Hmm, haven't tried it in a while but it sounds like civitai changed something. Ill look into it.
Worked perfectly, thank you so much for sharing this!!
