It generally works pretty well, but may get distorted if the character is further back in the frame. For the best effect, the sheath should be front and center.

Also this model can function as a general furry hyper sheath/balls enhancer, if you want that. It makes the model focus a lot of attention on the sheath area, generally making them huge.
