Scroll near the bottom for comments on the merged version (my original model merged with three others)
Photo-focused model with a narrow aesthetic but versatile subject matter.
Mostly SFW model - only capable of the tamest NSFW kind of imagery.
The starting point is my LoRA Eldritch Candid Photography which I wanted to push a little further and so merged into a checkpoint with alternate versions and various other LoRAs to get this film aesthetic: slightly compressed dynamic range, generalized finer details, and heavy grain (as of old ISO 800 film) but with an overall sense of authenticity and convincing real-world presence. The benefits of the model, over the original LoRA, are greater subject matter flexibility and prompt coherence.
I always prompt for 'photograph' as in 'cinematic photography' or 'product photograph' etc. Without which the model may lean toward a kind of painterly art output. Which can be quite nice, but its real raison d'être, for me, is photographic.
Upscale or refine your output:
Maybe the best results you can get from this model include upscaling the image, again using the same Eldritch Photography model. At larger resolutions, the grain/noise looks much more natural, doesn't overwhelm the imagery so much, while retaining the same lighting, atmosphere, and analog realism. Here's an upscaled unicorn for example.
Alternatively, you can use another model in upscaling, or as a refiner. My preference is the first approach, upscaling with this same model. But in both approaches, I highly value the overall tonality and aesthetic that Eldritch Photography brings.
Important note about LoRAs: the model is a crapshoot in how well LoRAs will work with it. Some work great, but may need lower strengths than you'd use on the base SDXL, others work fine at 1.0 and yet others are kinda garbage. It's a little hard to predict, but feel free to see what you get. To my taste, more general-purpose fine-tune checkpoints are better suited for loading up style LoRAs. I just use this model for its distinctive photo style.
About the new Eldritch Photography Merge version
The original Eldritch Photography model is noisy - maybe too much for some. Personally, I'm very fond of it. But it's also constrained. I don't have the computing resources (nor want to invest in them at this time) to train the many thousands of images that would be required to achieve a more versatile, general-purpose checkpoint. And I wanted to see what it might look like if I were to put in such time. Hence, this merge:
Equal parts of Juggernaut, Proteus, and XenoDiffusion and a strong influence of Eldritch Photography, gets us this more versatile model. Output remains grainy, like low-light / high ISO film, and the dynamic range is reduced, flattening highlights and shadows somewhat, for an overall organic feel, just not quite so strongly as my original model. The other three original fine-tuned checkpoints also bring back more versatility, allowing this merge to explore more art aesthetics and work better with style LoRAs.

Big edit to previous comments: CivitAI has made a big change to its presentation of gallery images, and it much better preserves the original grainy texture of this model's output. Where previously it treated the graininess as noise and smoothed everything, it's now doing a great job of showing output as they are generated. Original comment below.
it's worth noting that these images suffer particularly from the website's manipulation/format conversion/compression - the grainy noise that is part of the model's aesthetic gets treated as unwanted noise, and flattened. The preview images here then register more painterly than their original output.
edit - as @Standspurfahrer notes, the download button on an image will pull the original, uncompressed image! You can see it as intended, and grab my full (very simple, though with custom nodes) Comfy workflow if you want it.
Alternatively, you can download the original PNG file.
@Standspurfahrer oh man! I didn't even realize the download button pulled the original image! Thanks 🙏
@eldritchadam I think this feature is new. Glad to help!
i was hoping this would be a good model as I like the painters checkpoint. Its OK for that one to be soft and such. But being this is for photography, everything is soft up close and pretty noisy. Noisy enough that I would want to replace my camera if it was photography. I just started playing with this so maybe its what I was doing that made it that way. But for new models I expect sharp images. Maybe its one of your settings when you made it? Because i've never seen a model that leaves noise and grain.
it's quite intentional. I say as much in the model description. There are plenty of super sharp photo models out there - I have nothing to contribute that others aren't doing much better. This model is what it is. A soft focus grainy photo style. It's quite fine if it's not for you! There are an abundance of models on this site!
i read the simple description twice and i understand nothing.
what this model is good at infront of your good lora? there is no asnwer
The checkpoint merges together a few different versions of that same LoRA, as well as the 'Old Technology' LoRA and a couple art-focused ones as well. Altogether, the result is a versatility that Candid Photography doesn't quite achieve. They're very similar, for sure. But some of the more fantastical ideas - dragons, sci-fi, monsters - are a bit more convincing. It also shows more coherence when I throw multiple concepts in a long prompt.
Aesthetically, the two are very much akin. But I find the checkpoint just more powerful in terms of subject-matter flexibility.
I don't want to write all this in the model description. Nobody reads it if it just goes on forever!
But by all means, if you simply prefer the LoRA with a different checkpoint, have at it!
@eldritchadam good, the lora is really nice, but about your checkpoint good to hear..if you can develop that more, seems you have a vision to male sort of flexible checkpoint , go for it keep developing
Awesome style!
Thanks! that's a wicked creepy Harley Quinn you dreamed up
@eldritchadam lol thanks, well I thought it could have been worse/better with hr gigger style
@P_Universe I posted a little palate cleanser - a wholesome unicorn 😁
@eldritchadam very pretty, but yeah the difference is very funny tho lol, thank for letting the model on here to use, I hope you can upload on sea art or tensor art as well
@P_Universe I do eventually get most things on Tensor Art - I really like the image generations on their site.
@eldritchadam i Will wait There yours then💪🏻
@P_Universe just btw, I did get the model uploaded to Tensor here
@eldritchadam awesomee, thanks !!
As a career photographer, this is one of the most realistic models on this site. It also tends to give wildly different outputs from other models. Awesome work man.
Appreciated, thanks!
