    V1 - Samurai Jack

    (scroll down for other versions)

This LoCon model is based on the art style of "Samurai Jack," an animated series created by Genndy Tartakovsky. Initially, I was inspired to make a Tartakovsky-style model. However, I realized that each of Tartakovsky’s cartoons has a distinct style of its own. This model is part of an ongoing Genndy Tartakovsky Style Series, with "Samurai Jack" as the inaugural version.

"Samurai Jack" combines a limited color palette, minimalism, bold lines, and geometric shapes, with influences like Hanna-Barbera and traditional Japanese prints and posters.

While Genndy Tartakovsky's vision was crucial, the art style owes much to his collaborators: Scott Wills (Art Director), Stephen DeStefano (Character Designer), and Dan Krall, to name a few.

    Guidelines

    • The model does not require a specific trigger word

    • Useful style prompts: "retro artstyle", "no lineart", "flat color"

    • This model is intended purely as a style LoRA to apply to your own scenes and characters. It cannot recreate characters from the show by name, although it has limited knowledge of “samurai jack” as a character prompt

    V2 - Primal

Captures the distinct art style of Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal. This model is the second in the Tartakovsky Style Series, following the Samurai Jack version.
Primal differs from Samurai Jack with its more grounded and organic visual style. The series employs a realistic color palette influenced by nature documentaries, adding a visceral and earthy feel to the animation. While Samurai Jack features minimalist and bold geometric designs, Primal leans towards detailed, illustrative environments and characters. Other influences on the show's style were Conan the Barbarian and vintage pulp novels, as well as artists like Osamu Tezuka, Frank Frazetta, Moebius, and Ralph Bakshi.

Credit goes to Scott Wills, the Art Director on Primal, responsible for painting environments, character coloring, and integrating effects, color, and light, as well as Christian Schellewald and the rest of Tartakovsky's team.

    Guidelines:

    • The model does not require a specific trigger word

    • Useful Style Prompts: "organic", "illustrative", "flat color", "retro artstyle"

    • This model is intended purely as a style LoRA to apply to your own scenes and characters. It cannot recreate characters from the show by name

Thanks I think I'll try Dexter's Lab next. It's an innovative art style. It's similar to Samurai Jack with geometric designs and super flat. But it's even more caricaturesque and adds the bold line art.

@pantsm4ster906 I've found some animation cels from different Tartakovsky cartoons but not enough to build a high quality dataset, unfortunately.

Creating a model for Dexter's Lab has been tricky due to the cartoon's unique and exaggerated art style. The characters are very caricatured and inconsistent in design. For example, Dexter has a chibi-like look, while Dee Dee's exaggerated form often confuses the AI. Dexter’s mom has pointed feet, and noses differ widely across characters. These inconsistencies make it hard for AI to learn and replicate the style accurately. I would also put the style in the same "family" as Samurai Jack - geometric, stylised. For variety, I might do Primal next instead, which is in a more organic style.

@pantsm4ster906 Looks good. Maybe I need a larger dataset or a different training method.

@RetroSmashtAI I don't think they are actually sharing the model, fucking weak

Good news, they are releasing the model soon
