Memmmmmries.... Mine was a 1985 in Guards Red (known at the time as Arrest-Me Red...LOL). Best handling car I've ever owned. It wasn't 100% stock in the suspension dept, which helped, but damn, could that thing corner!
[pssst.... there was no Targa version of the original 944. Yes, you can get Google hits for it. And lots of other mistakes and imaginary things. There are a bunch of wishful thinking Photoshop versions out there.]
