Super Mario Bros. 2 released in 1988. Transgender ideology only just started to gain traction and recognition in the mass public eye in the 1990s, and that primarily was in the west. So it's highly-highly unlikely that Birdo in her conception was in anyway meant to likened to someone who's trans.

@TheMetroMan The concept has been around longer than that. It's really only gained modern levels of attention since 90s. A book on a John's Hopkins web page talks about the medical field identifying the condition since early 1900s, with the 60s being when it first got institutionalized. The very general concepts of gender, identity, transformations, etc., have been in media in various forms for a long time, and for modern media you could include the girdle of masculinity/femininity, which 1st edition D&D from the 70s had. And while hermaphrodites and transgender are critically different things in a few ways, the concept of "woman with a penis" goes back to at least Hermaphroditus in Greek mythology.

@jlfo It worked better on autism for me than pony lol, it was a little off on seaart and the pony alt variant I tried but it worked well enough.
