Ayumi Narusawa is a member of the esteemed Hounds organization, who are on the frontline of fending off wayward supernatural terrorist humanoid felines known as Phantom Cats.

Also the only female character in the series who isn't adversarial to or complicit in the abuse of Taba. Which makes her his girlfriend almost by default.
