This one was a request, and she turned out to be one of my favorite trains in a while.

Tips 💡

• 👒 The hat is the whole character. sun hat, wide-brimmed hat, purple ribbon gets you 80 percent of the way there instantly. Overalls and gloves do the rest.

• 👵 She will render too young if you let her. She is 45 and the model wants to shave 20 years off. Push mature female and short hair and she settles into the right age range.

• 🌿 Best scenes: the garden, the barn, morning light, greenhouses, milk crates, that whole wholesome rural setup. She looks great doing something with her hands.

• ☀️ Watch the hat brim. Wide brims throw a heavy shadow across the face on strong lighting, so soften your light source or angle the hat back if her expression disappears.

• 💜 The purple accents matter. Ribbon and earrings. Small detail, but it is the thing that separates her from a generic farm woman.
