    To be honest, my curiosity about Anima is very personal. ^^

    Who knows me, knows I love my Illustrious models. :) For me, merging has always been about more than just combining tools. I enjoy weaving... connecting.... different characteristics, perspectives, and the unique ways models respond to a prompt... I love the way of reflecting through words ^^

    To be honest, I was on the verge of stepping away from AI art for very personal reasons for a while...

    Exploring Anima reignited my love for AI and reminded me why I love Ai as art of intention. ♥

    One of the reasons I create merges is to build playgrounds where we can simply have fun and express our creativity. Hardware is a very individual topic, so it's important to me that these playgrounds stay accessible, even for people with less VRAM. That's why I like keeping tools like ADetailer or Hires optional rather than essential.

    Taste is always subjective, of course. What I personally love about Anima is how naturally it lets me weave my own artistic signature into the results. I can generate relatively small images, focus on storytelling, and still get a strong sense of identity from the model.

    I can't speak for why others are switching, but that's why I enjoy exploring Anima. ^^

    TBH, Anima is only bit better, only advantage is that you can mangle it far more than ILLU without it breaking. Inside Anima is just regular dumb T5, which is more or less Clip G. The actual advantage is that model is FLOW, not classic iterative diffusion as SDXL. But that could be done even before, BigAsp 2.5 is proof of work in that aspect (it actually has about same prompt follow as Anima, but requires serious know how to make it work).

    Anima could be great, but in the end, its just slightly above ILLU, due using again low end text encoders. And model itself could use few B params extra. Altho its mostly just "not smart enough TEs".

    Does it make nice pics? Sure, but so does everything these days. I mean you can make good stuff even with SD1.5 if you want..

    SDXL family is still faster to use for similar quality. Just prompt follow is really better with Anima. Can be pushed super high, but its hard to work with.

    i love the possibility of writing in tags and novels while promting at the same time :D

    Personally, I find Anima very accommodating when it comes to understanding speech ^^ but what do I know?

    I wonder if,

    in the pursuit of perfection, the really exciting part isn't perhaps creating credibility on an artistic level ^^ I mean that quite objectively subjetively... Anima is very impressive when it comes to micro-expressions ^^

    And especially when it comes to "merging"?

    what makes Anima special is the interplay involved in weaving individual threads into a pattern. It’s the openness of the encounter... in the artistic signature, the perspectives, and the way the image is generated (beyond just how it looks). It’s a completely new approach for me, and it makes me incredibly curious to explore it further. As a "merge mama," the sheer scope for potential and creative unfolding really sparks my curiosity.

    Is Anima better than Illustrious? I honestly don't know.

    Does it move me? Yes.

    Does it make me curious? Absolutely.

    Am I addicted to AI again? Ooooh yes... and I'm enjoying it. :D
