The Imp Fairy (and also the prince and princess if I did this right) from the episode The Iron Stove, known as Tetsu no Sutoobu in Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics, aka Grimm Masterpiece Theater, or グリム名作劇場 Gurimu Meisaku Gekijō in Japan. You want the prompts, just skip to the bottom.
I try to remember to include the prompts so they're right there for you, I know how annoying that is to not have them at the ready but I forgot this round, sorry, just pull them from the bottom of the page or whatever samples I post.
So far solos work, real challenge will be multiple characters in the same pic. Imp Fairy turns out fine, I find the problem is the more generic a character is overall like the prince/princess, the more drift you get, even if its a solo lora. I can get prince and princess in the same pic but eh, I'm not impressed yet. Princess and Imp Fairy in the same pic is a no go-, Imp Fairy will likely overpower.
I'll give you a character/episode breakdown for this one, then talk about the character/lora and prompts. If you were around in '89, '90, you maybe remember this one, you can still find most of the episodes out there on Youtube and occasionally it comes around again on Amazon Prime.
So I was kind of wavering on if I wanted to do this one, Imp Fairy isn’t really in line with the other Grimm characters I’ve done, outside of being a villainess, but the episode really won me over. We’ll get you into short bipolar women yet, I’m married to one! I actually really appreciated this episode (more on that), so this is another attempt by me to master multiple character loras. I definitely put in the extra time this round.
So’s, this is another one of those episodes never aired in the states apparently, and my understanding is like so much anime back in the day, they let the originals get lost/deteriorate and only managed to scrounge them up decades later, so we're lucky to have it. I actually really liked this episode compared to the Crystal Ball, which was too uneven, and even a lot of the well known mainstay episodes. If you’re a fan of the series, go see if you can’t dig it up. I’ll walk you through, it sounds really trippy, but they stick to the original fairy tale pretty faithfully for the parts that feel random, I love their twist with Imp Fairy (who’s an original character). Plus, they really invert a lot of tropes in this one!
A princess becomes lost in the woods and stumbles upon a talking wood burning stove (like I said, its trippy). Turns out the talking stove is a cursed prince and kind to plants and animals, and offers to lead her out of the woods, IF she cuts him a new hole in his stove with her fathers dagger and promises to marry him to break his curse. (This is the 2nd lora I’ve done where someone wouldn’t lead the other person out of the woods unless they promised to marry someone they just met). The princess is understandably hesitant to believe all this and has a valid point on marrying young, but it’s a Grimms Fairy Tales, so agrees, and the stove has a parade of rats lead her out of the woods (actually not random nonsense, its relevant later, but I decided I’m not gonna spoil it).
Princess talks to her dad who thinks this is all insane (it is), but princess replies she gave her solemn word, so they compromise and send her lady in waiting who looks exactly like her except for her face (this is actually a pretty funny gag). Not being the princess, daddy’s dagger doesn’t work, and the princess has to come back herself. Cuts the hole, prince reverts to human. He quickly asks her to marry her, and princess is still hesitant, this is kind of refreshing, usually they’re all gung ho. Unfortunately (or fortunately for this lora), plot twist from the original fairy tale, the prince’s toxic admirer shows up, and it’s the Imp Fairy!
Now, brief aside. Prince and princess both have good designs, especially for GFTT princesses its tough to find one that’s not overly cutesy. But funny thing here, she might be beat by the villain in that department. I gotta do special mentions for Imp Fairy (since she’s the main character of the lora). First off, you can tell the animators really, really enjoyed drawing her rack. I don’t care what your preferences are, you can’t possibly miss them even if you’re making a heroic effort. I think she’s got anybody else in the series I can name you beat, and I've declared previous winners. She looks like Tinkerbell, Akuma from Street Fighter, Morrigan from Dark Stalkers and Project A-Ko all had a baby. Tell me I’m wrong. She’s also really expressive, they run the gamut this episode from making her annoying, scary, and cute, in every sense of the word. It is tough, lemme tell you, to make a fairy both a credible final villain and also kind of seductive, but they did it. Back to the plot!
Imp Fairy tells princess to step off cuz this is HER tall man, puts him back in the stove again, and disappears. This is actually the start of the big inversion, because, this is typically the point in most stories where the big bad kidnaps the princess and then the hero has to quest after him. The roles are reversed in this story, I love it!
Ok, well I’m going to summarize very briefly and wrap this up here even though we’re only 5 minutes in, because you may not have seen this story and unlike Crystal Ball, I genuinely don’t want to spoil it for you. Ok, well, a LITTLE bit. Princess goes after the prince. I feel like this episode is packed for 20 odd minutes, its very much got that errant quest vibe with monsters and dangers. If I laid out everything that happens, I'd be typing another page at least. Meanwhile, Imp Fairy is pulling a marry ME and I’ll let you out of the stove and hey, throw in eternal youth too on the prince, and like I said above in my aside, she makes a better case than you’d think for someone who only comes up to my belly button or so. The ending is a little goofy, but so many of these end that way, and there’s a nice twist at the end with the woodland creatures. Really satisfying as these went, IMO, check it out.
So’s, this lora. I did about 80 samples, which is a ton for me, but I was trying for all 3 main characters this round. Samples are heavy on Imp Fairy, but if this is going to work this round I feel more confident in the distribution. I used activator words, hopefully they’ll work as intended:
Imp Fairy: Ir0nSt0veImp, purple eyes, red hair, cleavage, sleeveless blue dress, pink hat, red wings, bead bracelets, skull necklace, pointy ears, red shoes, short girl
Note: I'm not being funny with that short girl prompt, they've got different builds than tall girls, I'm finding that out as I try to gen her. She’s got a really voluminous vintage 80’s anime hair style (which is a weakness of mine too), v-shaped widow’s peak bangs with shag cut layers and hime cut side-locks, long in back. I justshare this cuz I wanted to describe it and in case we run into issues. Oh, and if you're trying to take her hat off, specify "hair down", it loves to give her hat hair
Princess: Ir0nSt0vePrincess, long blonde hair, long sleeved green dress, green eyes
Prince: Ir0nSt0vePrince Short Brown hair, blue eyes, blue shirt, puffy sleeves, long sleeves, sheathed sword, red boots
(Note, Neg out ribbons and bows, it loves to throw those on the girls)
Description
80 samples, 10 epochs, 2000 steps, I guess thats, what, 10 retries? This new system jacks me up, I used the defaults, but .1 instead of .5 on the unet, and 2 on the clip skip, cuz lets face it, its anime and hasn't done me wrong yet.
