Arcana Press - A Vintage Pulp Horror / Comic Inspired Style LoRA [ILL/ANI/KREA2] - Illustrious V.2
    NSFW

A vintage print style LoRA trained on pulp horror illustration, mid-century occult publishing, tarot card art, and retro comic composition. Bold ink lines, flat color, heavy distressing, panel borders.

(Anima / Krea 2 Info Further Down) ---->

Strengths: Wide scenes, environmental storytelling, iconic graphic layouts, skull imagery, occult symbolism, western landscapes, horror portraiture. Strong on no-human compositions; environments and objects are where it really shines.

    Sampler: Euler a / Karras · CFG 6.5–7.0 · Steps 28–35
Higher CFG than most LoRAs, as it needs the guidance to assert the vintage aesthetic over the checkpoint's defaults.

Checkpoint changes the result significantly: (The following were used for gallery images:)

Color palette is your biggest creative lever. Arcana Press has no locked palette; name it and it goes there. red and black = horror. yellow and black = western/cosmic. blue and black = noir. green and black = surreal/botanical.

Distressing tags matter: color misregistration, heavy print distressing, aged paper texture, ink splatter at weight 1.2–1.3 are what make it feel genuinely vintage rather than vintage-inspired.

None of these are rules. Swap the checkpoint, ignore the palette, skip the distressing. Experiment freely and see what it produces for you.

    ANIMA VERSION

    Trigger: arcanapress
    LoRA strength: 0.85 – 1.0

    With Anima Turbo LoRA:
    CFG 1 · 8 steps · ER_SDE / Simple (or Euler / Simple)

    Without Turbo:
    CFG 5.0 · 40 steps · ER_SDE / Simple (or Euler / linear_quadratic)

    Notes:
The Anima port of Arcana Press. Same dataset, same trigger, different architecture.

This is the version that matches the Illustrious original - flat pulp print, halftone fields, aged paper, the graphic linework the trigger was trained to own. If you already use Arcana Press on Illustrious, this is the one you want.

New on Anima: it renders text. Prompt a cover title, a banner, a speech bubble, and Anima's text encoder will usually give you something legible and correctly spelled.

I recommend DaSiWa's Anima and Anima Turbo Lora.
Workflow Recommendation: DaSiWa's Dark Arts Anima WF

    KREA 2 VERSION:

This version adheres to the dataset impeccably. The vintage effects really shine with or without prompting - the trigger word owns the halftones, misregistration, and aged-print texture, so you don't need to prompt for them. That said, I like to gently guide the print with terms like "misregistration, RGB fringing, paper distressing, Ben-Day dots, halftones" when I want the effect pushed harder. Add them at the end of the prompt.

The LoRA also spans two registers depending on how you describe your subject: iconic, flat-color, cel-shaded subjects pull the 2D side, while realistic-portrait and glamour/lighting language pulls the 3D painted pulp side. Both stay fully on-brand.

Trigger word: arcanapress (place it first in the prompt)

    Recommended Settings:

    • Base checkpoint: Krea 2 Turbo - Recommended: DaSiWa Krea2 Turbo

    • Sampler / Scheduler: Euler / Simple (preferred for this LoRA - cleaner print texture than Euler / linear_quadratic)

    • CFG: 1 (using a Turbo checkpoint) - leave the negative prompt empty; it does nothing at CFG 1

    • Steps: 8

    • LoRA weight: 1.0 (bump to 1.1 to assert the print harder on busy or off-theme subjects)

    • Resolution: 1536×1536 (or 1024×1024 to explore)

    • Prompting: natural language, not tags. Describe content and composition; let the trigger handle the style.

    Tips:

    • Don't over-upscale - the grain and misregistration are the aesthetic. Keep upscaling conservative so you don't smooth the dots away.

    • Bold, flat, limited-palette compositions make the halftone and off-register printing shine brightest.

    • Roll a few seeds - the color-plate misregistration varies seed to seed, and some land with much more character than others.

    Description

    • Retrained to pick up better paper details, imperfect outlines, hatch lines, and halftones
