Ahsoka Tano, a female Togruta Force-sensitive born in 36 BBY on the planet Shili to parents Pav-ti and Nak-il Tano, first entered the Star Wars canon in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, created by George Lucas and Dave Filoni. Discovered at age three by Jedi Master Plo Koon due to her innate sensitivity to the Force and the emotions of others, she was trained at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant before being assigned at age fourteen as the Padawan learner to Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker during the Battle of Christophsis. This assignment, issued by Grand Master Yoda at the outset of the Clone Wars, marked her debut as a headstrong yet capable apprentice tasked with developing greater responsibility under her master's guidance, setting the foundation for her growth amid galactic conflict.
During the Clone Wars, Ahsoka evolved from an impulsive young student into a skilled commander and warrior, leading clone trooper battalions in critical engagements while forging strong bonds with Anakin Skywalker and figures such as Obi-Wan Kenobi. A defining development occurred when she was falsely implicated in the bombing of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, resulting in her temporary expulsion from the Order; although ultimately exonerated through Anakin's investigation, the experience exposed the Jedi Council's political compromises and eroded her faith in the institution. Disillusioned, she chose to depart the Order voluntarily near the war's conclusion, surviving the subsequent Order 66 purge that decimated the Jedi ranks and retreating into hiding to preserve her independence.
In the ensuing years of Imperial rule, Ahsoka emerged as a pivotal operative under the alias Fulcrum, coordinating a network of rebel cells against the Galactic Empire and mentoring the young Jedi Ezra Bridger aboard the Ghost in Star Wars Rebels. Her arc culminated in the Siege of Mandalore, where she confronted Darth Vader—her former master—and later vanished alongside Ezra and Grand Admiral Thrawn through hyperspace travel facilitated by purrgil creatures. Portrayed in live-action by Rosario Dawson in series such as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, she continued her independent path by aiding the New Republic, training potential Force users, and pursuing unresolved threats, thereby embodying a resilient commitment to justice unbound by traditional Jedi doctrine.
