SYNOPSIS:
The film follows Al Jolson from his early days as the son of an immigrant cantor to his rise as one of America’s biggest stage and film stars. It focuses on his drive to perform, his emotional singing style and the personal costs of chasing success.

It also reflects the era he came from. Jolson performed in blackface early in his career, but later became one of the first performers to step away from it and helped bring attention to black artists and musical influences; making his legacy more complicated than it first appears.
