The original description recommends a VAE, so I'm not sure you actually read it.
The original model has a corrupted VAE, so Lora’s trained on the original will also generate burnt images. This version is meant to be used as a base model on Civitai’s online trainer, specifically to avoid that. Not sure why something so simple didn’t get through to you.
