Jinx, whose real name is classified in her original filecard but later revealed in comics as Kimi Arashikage, debuted as an action figure in Hasbro's 1987 G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toyline. She made her first comic book appearance in Marvel's G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero issue #59 (May 1987), introduced as a highly skilled ninja operative from Los Angeles, California. Portrayed with a distinctive red ninja outfit, hooded mask, and dual swords, Jinx is a member of the Arashikage clan, trained primarily by the Blind Master and established as the cousin of Storm Shadow, adding depth to her ties within the ninja lineage shared with Snake Eyes.
As a G.I. Joe team member specializing in intelligence and covert operations, Jinx excels in ninjutsu, espionage, and hand-to-hand combat, often undertaking infiltration missions against Cobra. Her character is marked by discipline, agility, and a mysterious demeanor, frequently operating in disguise or shadow roles to support the team. In the comics, she demonstrates resourcefulness by infiltrating Cobra Island and contributing to key operations, while her unmasking in later issues reveals a determined and loyal personality committed to the Arashikage code.
Jinx experienced notable expansions across media, appearing in the DiC Entertainment animated series (1990–1992) as a recurring ninja ally, and briefly in G.I. Joe: The Movie (1987) among new recruits. In subsequent continuities, such as G.I. Joe: Renegades and IDW Publishing comics, her backstory and skills receive further elaboration. Her most prominent live-action portrayal came in the 2013 film G.I. Joe: Retaliation, played by Élodie Yung as Kim Arashikage, an apprentice to Snake Eyes who aids in high-stakes battles against Cobra, solidifying her enduring role as a formidable female ninja in the franchise.
