anima v2 the animazingXL version of anima. Expect the same quality and fun as the sdxl checkpoint.
all samples are as is, no loras, no detailers, no fixes, just the prompt and the checkpoint : )
check below for about 100 samples : )
no cherry picking - all samples posted where genned one after the other, this model nails the concept fast : ) of course I skip one or two here and there, but for the most part, I got this checkpoint dialed in pretty good : ) this is why i don't release a ton of updates. I take the time to make sure this is a top notch, excellent model, this is how I operate : ) for all my models !!!
Gallery images were created with civitai prompts, a million thanks, I dont have time to write 100 prompts, I mix some with nodes, keep them as you wrote them, my main goal is to show you how diverse the model is, it can handle whatever you throw at it. I test my models for hours before moving forward to publish. I make sure it is the best I can deliver with the time I have. : )

Generation settings
Works at resolutions between 512^2 and 1536^2 pixels.
30-50 steps, CFG 4-6.
A variety of samplers work. Some of my favorites:
er_sde: neutral style, flat colors, sharp lines. I use this as a reasonable default.
euler_a: Softer, thinner lines. Can sometimes tend towards a 2.5D look. CFG can be pushed a bit higher than other samplers without burning the image.
dpmpp_2m_sde_gpu: similar in style to er_sde but can produce more variety and be more "creative". Depending on the prompt it can get too wild sometimes.
If going for a more realistic / painterly look, the beta57 scheduler (ComfyUI RES4LYF custom node pack) can help make better textures, since it puts more emphasis on low-noise timesteps.
Prompting
The model is trained on Danbooru-style tags, natural language captions, and combinations of tags and captions.
Use lowercase for tags, and spaces instead of underscores. Score tags are the only tags that use underscores.
Recommended positive prefix: "masterpiece, best quality, score_7, safe, "
Recommended negative: "worst quality, low quality, score_1, score_2, score_3, artist name"
When using a tag that is different between Danbooru and Gelbooru, prefer the Gelbooru version.
Prompt weighting works, but needs a weight higher than typically used for SDXL. Example: "(chibi:2)"
Tag order
[quality/meta/year/safety tags] [1girl/1boy/1other etc] [character] [series] [artist] [general tags]
Within each tag section, the tags can be in arbitrary order.
Quality tags
Human score based: masterpiece, best quality, good quality, normal quality, low quality, worst quality
PonyV7 aesthetic model based: score_9, score_8, ..., score_1
You can use either the human score quality tags, the aesthetic model tags, both together, or neither. All combinations work.
Time period tags
Specific year: year 2025, year 2024, ...
Period: newest, recent, mid, early, old
Meta tags
highres, absurdres, anime screenshot, jpeg artifacts, official art, etc
Safety tags
safe, sensitive, nsfw, explicit
Artist tags
Prefix artist with @. E.g. "@big chungus". You must put @ in front of the artist. The effect will be very weak if you don't.
Full tag example
year 2025, newest, normal quality, score_5, highres, safe, 1girl, oomuro sakurako, yuru yuri, @nnn yryr, smile, brown hair, hat, solo, fur-trimmed gloves, open mouth, long hair, gift box, fang, skirt, red gloves, blunt bangs, gloves, one eye closed, shirt, brown eyes, santa costume, red hat, skin fang, twitter username, white background, holding bag, fur trim, simple background, brown skirt, bag, gift bag, looking at viewer, santa hat, ;d, red shirt, box, gift, fur-trimmed headwear, holding, red capelet, holding box, capelet
Tag dropout
The model was trained with random tag dropout. You don't need to include every single relevant tag for the image.
Dataset tags
To improve style and content diversity, the model was additionally trained on two non-anime datasets: LAION-POP (specifically the ye-pop version) and DeviantArt. Both were filtered to exclude photos. Because these datasets are qualitatively different from anime datasets, captions from them have been labeled with a "dataset tag". This occurs at the very beginning of a prompt followed by a newline. Optionally, the second line can contain either the image alt-text (ye-pop) or the title of the work (DeviantArt). Examples:
ye-pop
For Sale: Others by Arun Prem
Abstract, oil painting of three faceless, blue-skinned figures. Left: white, draped figure; center: yellow-shirted, dark-haired figure; right: red-veiled, dark-haired figure carrying another. Bold, textured colors, minimalist style.deviantart
Flame
Digital painting of a fiery dragon with glowing yellow eyes, black horns, and a long, sinuous tail, perched on a glowing, molten rock formation. The background is a gradient of dark purple to orange.@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

This model is really exceptional. I am not sure what magic you used to create it, but it was worth the pact.
This model is magic
👍
How is there zero variation in this? If I make a prompt without painstakingly specifying the view angle down to last centimeter and describing the pose of every single appendage of a character (honestly even this doesn't help much), I always get the exact same pose and the exact same view angle, on every seed I try. There may be minuscule variation in small cloth details, expression or some small detail in the background, but I'd say around 95% of the image is identical, no matter the seed. At best I can get the same image, but flipped horizontally. Even changing the character or the background doesn't introduce any randomness to the image.
This problem is easy to test. Make a prompt and try different seeds without changing the prompt. It will always be the same image with only small difference.
post examples to you account that has NO content, thank you
-- this model is one of the best anima models available right now....
right here --- https://civitai.red/posts/29558234 and

same prompt --different seeds
plenty of variation
@mystifying Certainly! I have used one of your own prompts here to demonstrate the problem (I removed view angle from the prompt to allow for more variation). The only prompts related to pose here are "sitting, holding can":
https://civitai.red/posts/29594988
You can see most of these are from the exact same angle and the exact same pose, with most of the variations being on clothing details, lighting and background. The pose and angle remains mostly the same with different seeds. To be fair, I did manage a couple of generations with a different angle that I have also included.
I apologize if this seems I'm picking on your model in particular. I don't want to sound rude. I have noticed this same problem in some other new models too. I really like the style of your model and I hope the variation in it can be improved.
Edit: my wording wasn't also very good. There not "zero" variation, there is little variation and the images aren't completely identical, only mostly.
@relknum my focus was for a concept or prompt to land on something coherent for wild ideas. For images like you posted My focus was that model was able to produce a good usable image in as few image gens as possible, and based on community that make these kinds of images, with a closeup focus, it was on par with other models.
Anima can be brought so much further 100%, but the way civitai handles models in the gen means everything... if i am buried 10 miles down the list.. ((position is based on total numbers of model under a name, even if 20 other version are not the same base)) lol not sure if I will be posting new version here. I have tested other models and I think this model stands out even if for some prompts it doesn't change the whole composition.
I need more support : ) I know my work is good, unique, and stand out, even as is... lol I do appreciate the heads up : )
@relknum I also just realized that is a bad prompt for that concept, lol... I am in between jobs right now, and ran a workflow I built to mix prompts to create unique image while I work on my personal portfolio. I do not know how much more variation would come with a better prompt... that would be more testing.. I love testing and learning btw.
It is actually reason I throw everything at a model, seeing how much it can take, how little, how weird, how real.. etc...
- what i learned about AI models 1 word, in on spot can make or break an image
- i like anima because it is smart enough to deal with most situations
this model is so much fun, mystifying has created something special, I look forward to making images with this model!!
The model is great at prompt adherence and very stable with styles which is great. But at least for me the seed variety per prompt takes a massive hit unfortunately. I'll continue testing a bit to see if it's just my workflow or not but that's my initial impressions.

euler: a basic sampler that is a bit more creative than er_sde. Good with the Turbo and Aesthetic versions, since those are naturally more stable.

Natural language prompting tips
Follow standard English capitalization rules for character and series names.
If using pure natural langauge, more descriptive is better. Aim for at least 2 sentences. Extremely short prompts can give unexpected results.
You can mix tags and natural language in arbitrary order.
You can put quality / artist tags at the beginning of a natural language prompt.
"masterpiece, best quality, @big chungus. An anime girl with medium-length blonde hair is..."
Name a character, then describe their basic appearance.
"Digital artwork of Fern from Sousou no Frieren, with long purple hair and purple eyes, wearing a black coat over a white dress with puffy sleeves..."
This is extra important when prompting for multiple characters. If you just list off character names with no description of appearance, the model can get confused.
Artist tags
Prefix artist with @. E.g. "@big chungus". You must put @ in front of the artist. The effect will be very weak if you don't.
i have been using https://civitai.red/user/mystifying
models for a while now, and time for everyone using Myst's models to show some love.
Myst's models show love and effort of the artist he is, I always compare his models when he makes new one and they always have something special to offer, as well as being excellent models.
the anima is my favorite new model !
thanks MYST
while i wait to do a challenge, I will add my few words. I have used Myst's models because they always create what I prompt, it doesn't matter which model of Myst you use, they all work as intended.
thank you for you work
