@YoureMyPayPig Hello & Welcome! The long and short of it is that the Nova series of checkpoints take up 10%-20% of the available checkpoints on the generator. Effectively, they're crowding out smaller creators who would otherwise be able to post theirs. They're mostly all the same and it's just a little frustrating to see. So a few notable creators and I punched this model up here as a slight form of protest. Honestly I'm really happy with the way it came out. Crody isn't a bad person by any means but the slot hogging is a bit much.
It basically costs 35,000 yellow buzz per week to keep them on the genny, which is the rough equivalent of $35, which some creators without traction cannot afford. Civit is improving this next week by adding another 50 checkpoint slots so I'm hoping other creators can get their stuff on here now. I hope this makes sense!

Without entering into the war against Nova. I'm running out of space locally, so I'm trying to order my collection of models. What does this model do that RED MIX and PINK MIX don't?
It's all illustrious, it's just a different style. I think it works better with realism loras though. I haven't done much more testing with red shift lately, however

Pretty solid model. I really like it.
But you're right sometimes Crody ends up taking 15% of the model space. I truly think he does not bad intentions or intentionally wanted to hold captive all this space. I doubt he is even aware people are bothered by him doing this.
I also have a lot of models, but for now I am only keeping the top 3 online, with 4th one randomly selected each week.
I tried to help out new creators(those whose stuff I really liked) from getting bumped out each week. It was costing me like 200k buzz for my models and another 50k buzz for others.
As model creators on a site that is constantly running into problems with funding or what not, we gotta be more considerate with moves we make.
According to the discussions here (https://civitai.com/models/784543/nova-animal-xl?dialog=commentThread&commentId=978711 and https://civitai.com/models/967405?modelVersionId=2350462&dialog=commentThread&commentId=989460), Crody will limit down to 6-8 checkpoint models for each week. With the increase of slots to 150, that would only take 4-5.33% of the slot space, which is a step in a right direction.
I might test this model soon to see its capabilities. However, I don't want to be involved in a creator faction conflict. The Civitai community is already shaken by the updates, and I do not want this to escalate into a war from looking at some of the comments here at this discussion board, the name of this model, and some of the articles concerning of this situation, dividing the community even more. Where most of us should agree on is that there should be a system to limit the number of checkpoint models per creator available. That should have been implemented by the folks at Civitai themselves. Unfortunately, no system has been in place.
Also, sometimes, constraints can be a good thing. It can make us more creative, try new things, and experiment on stuff that we probably wouldn't do otherwise. This is coming from someone uses a variety of checkpoint models, not just models made from one creator.
@billythebob30466192 If you look at the 200k buzz bid this week on the checkpoint it sounds like the people have spoken. The whole point is that he WAS taking up 20% of the space and people who had good models got crowded out regardless of how innovative they were. I just made the checkpoint, the community did the rest.

@RAMTHRUST the way I see it, its not worth it to cash out with the creator program. 1m buzz is like barely $500. So I just re-invest my buzz to keep my models online and horde buzz.
I like to give my pinned pics on my model pages buzz. I sometimes handout 200 - 500 buzz to them.

you know some good old fashion comparing of many models seed to seed prompt to prompt, would help clear things up. granted i was testing something experimental with this

but i do plan to make one on a more level playing field, how else can people truly see what going on with all these model merges, and training models that aren't any different at the end of the day, a tiny few might have veered the model in another direction.

expect to see clearly what going on with 100's of models in up coming months, if a model holding a top spot is just a tiny nudge of style from the one it borrowed from, and not yielding any creative results that merit a top spot, then at least the information will be present in a fair comparison
@mystifying you are 100% correct on your theory.
The only real thing thats chages is the wieghts that affect style, prompt adherece and some minor things.
There are other checkpoints that are trained like hassaku, rouwei, Janku. They do offer actual NEW data.
But for the most part you are right. Furry models are just weighed to produce furry characters easier, but they stilll can do human.
3d Models, can still do 2d. Its just how wieghted the UNET is for these styles.
Theres tools like supermerger that can show you how simillliar each model is. the biggest differece I saw was 88% similiarity. But most model share aroud 95% similiarity.
WAI, Nova, Banana Splitz(my model), XAVIER, Mol_Keun and Diving Illustrious all had over 90% similarity in UNET.

Hey no worries. And people like what they like and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, nor is there anything "wrong" with Crody. It's more about the practice of taking up 20% of the available checkpoints and raising the buzz floor, preventing creators with less buzz from making it on the generator. The increase from 100 checkpoints up to 150 helps that dramatically, as well as Crody's own self-awareness. Combining the two factors, he's decreased the amount of uploaded checkpoints from 20% to < 5% so everything has since been corrected. But you know what they say, "rebels never die".
What happened and why do we hate Nova? I've been pretty much using exclusively their models since using Illustrious.

As a nova enjoyer (anime version around version 2?) this model is pretty nice, I have no idea if this got AI style like nova because I am kinda legally blind
hopefully it won't be hard to use the exact same prompt structure as nova
Should function about the same as any of his illustrious variants. Just prompt what you're looking for and it'll be friendly. Booru tags work best as with all other illu models. Enjoy!

Most people don't have access to multistep/res_3m_beta57. I've done thousands of gens with Euler / Beta on illustrious and it works fine, and I don't think people should have to scour the earth for samplers and schedulers.
im a big doodoobrain. what is the difference between the concat conditioning and the normal positive promt. should i put things in one that i shouldnt in the other?
Random late response, but I can't leave this unanswered. I don't know the math behind it, but a concat on conditionings means two separately tokenized (encoded) prompts, placed after one another. Less bleed, more separation. But in my experience, it's not required. Positioning prompts in sections is just as effective or even better. Try it out for yourself. Example, use one clip encoder for the quality, one for the subject, one for the background and see what happens. Or add the quality prompt part to both and concat subject + background. Another cool thing is, you can have the full token limit in both conditionings without issues. Not sure how that's useful, but hey, there's that.
I don't know how you did it, but nothing else comes close to this checkpoint so far.

Possibly in the future :3. I just had my first kid so time is at a premium... And I don't churn out garbage updates so a lot of testing will be required too. Might be a while.
