The animated film Panji Tengkorak centers on a swordsman named Panji who tries to take his own life after successfully avenging his wife's death. Unfortunately, his attempt fails because his soul is possessed by dark magic, which makes him immortal and causes him endless suffering.

During his journey, Panji meets an old warrior who instructs him to pursue a bandit who has stolen a powerful relic. This relic is believed to be able to free Panji from the dark magic's curse, leading him to become entangled in a major conflict between two kingdoms.
