I always hated Squall, first his name means 'strong wind' absurd. Also he is a whiny teenager with less testosterone than Selphie Tilmitt.
Ramza is the best FF protagonist. Has actual problems, like his noble house falling apart, his brothers worshiping devils to stay relevant politically, and his sister being abducted.
