Is this based off your own art?
LOL
@Nick_123 I guess that means Sam is not the person who posted this, but rather, some random artist I don't know. Sorry for the dumb question.
@Socalista Watch this video that Sam made about people using his art for generative AI. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Viy3Cu3DLk
@Socalista It isn't dumb, it's just that the question is a bit funny since the Loras of his art are among the most downloaded here, and that he's been involved with some drama with civitai specifically, making them hold a contest to do Loras of his art.
jesus they are still seething.
@axicec the video is a year old? or you meant in general?
@lockbox23981 OH THANK GOD SOMEOEN BROUGHT THAT UP -- I'm still pissed at him and i don't even know the guy. He's entirely the reason I consistently train shit on my own art just to piss the anti's off so they get confused.
Sam Yang's about the only artist i call "ALLS FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR"
It's one thing to pull a law suit it's antoher to pull 1.5 million RABID FANS after people.
Talent does not include being a shiddy turd :P
@escheresque Oh really XD HE HATES AI THAT MUCH that he's gonna make people do it. :3
@lockbox23981 honestly I partially agree with him, while on the contest (currently running) I did use part of this lora, I mixed with others, I feel a mix of styles (sth done mixing at least 2 artists) feels like fair use and somewhat similar to what "traditional artists" do... I feel using this alone would be pure middle finger to the artist on the other hand, unless the artist has already passed away (great Loras for Alphone Mucha, Kentaro Miura, etc. feel more than welcome, as the artist cannot produce anything anymore)... even on this if we are talking about a LoRA we must still remember the checkpoint has its own defined styles, so will mix a difference with it, therefore not really matching the original artist's work. I'd be against a single artist's checkpoint in this case (again, unless the artist has passed away). And when mixing over 2 any similarities to the original work gets lost, only showing a passing semblance.
As it happens with other media, owning the LoRA isn't an issue, but distribution (based on a limited library) may be (again here we'd need to have a defined legal case, as it happens for other copyrighted work, such as music, having the songs is not illegal as taken by multiple courts around the world, the issue with torrents was not downloads but rather the uploads done with them).
Cope and seethe, drawcels.
