VAE is built in, so it's definitely not the problem. I don't even know what your issue might be; I've never seen a black screen issue.
Could be an issue if your using 50 series GPU and your Nivdia drive isn't up in some cases if you have a 30 or 40 series black screen issue it could still effect it so maybe by updating your GPU drivers you can fix the problem.
