Bring out your werewolf costumes and put on the zombie makeup. Set "Thriller" on repeat. If you thought body horror was bad with video models before, it'll be much worse with this lora!
The dataset has an bias towards zombies and body horror, but seems to convey the general style and quality of 80s movies, too.
Captioning this was tricky, as the automatic captioning had troubles with the 'variety' of the images here. So, a lot of hands-on required to clean it up.
All images/videos in showcase contain ComfyUI workflows.
For Wan: The Low noise lora has absolutely most effect for style. High noise still affects the outcome, but to a much less degree.
Example captions from the dataset:
"A man with a gaunt, pale face, sunken eyes, and thin lips. He has short, disheveled hair and is wearing a dark, stained jacket over a red shirt. He is pointing at the viewer with his right hand, which is also stained. The background is a concrete wall with visible cracks and splatters of paint in various shades of green, brown, and gray. The camera angle is straight-on, capturing the man from the front."
"A man in a tattered, white robe stands in a lush, tropical jungle. His face is obscured by a hood. In the foreground is a tombstone with a cross on it. The background is dense with greenery and palm trees, creating a dark, mysterious atmosphere. The camera angle is low, looking up at the man, emphasizing his imposing presence. The lighting is dim, casting shadows and adding to the eerie, ominous mood."
Description

Do you have any advice on training styles for wan 2.1?
I haven't tried 2.1, but gather around 50 images of the style and caption them well and consistently. You don't need super high res, around 400p will do.
neph1 how many steps are you doing, and what is your caption dropout rate
Around 500 steps for each, but it could probably be more. No dropout what I know of.
I'm not having any luck with the generations.
with a bit more information, maybe i could help. model? generator? settings?
@neph1 I’m working with a pre-viz animation right now. I already have a rough animation pass, and I can generate still images from it (Qwen / FLUX, etc.), but the quality is obviously pretty rough.
The main constraint is that I must preserve a very specific visual style — I don’t want the model “helping” me by drifting into a different look.
For the image generation step, my assumption is that something like Qwen 2.5.1 (Qwen 2511) might be the best option right now if I’m trying to push toward higher-end (“nano-banana”) quality without losing style consistency but I’m not 100% sure.
For the animation side, I’m currently considering:
WAN 2.2
WAN Animate
LTX-2
The goal is basically:
Use the existing pre-viz / rough animation as strong guidance
Upgrade image quality while keeping the exact style
Then carry that style coherently through animation
In the Spaceman video, I started with the one shot (ladder climbing). It had a wide angle view and set the style nicely. I then used stills from that, either as start image or end image, and used the hard cut lora to switch takes, then used those to generate more. It works best when going from different types of shots.
Wan is such a great base model to work with, great anatomy and composition but I've noticed a huge weakness in wan 2.2 is you can't do dark and gritty scenes with the vanilla model--everything comes out way too professional, well-lit and polished-- i think doing loras like this brings the most value for me at least, i dont use wan for gooning lmao.
Would be cool to have a more "modern" gritty style lora in the vein of Fight Club/SE7EN/Sin City. Like some dark neo noir stuff. Great job on blazing the trail on these they look super cool.
Agreed. But in all honesty, Hunyuan video seems much better at picking up style than Wan. I'm trying to convert some more of my loras, using the same dataset, but so far I'm not having any success. My theory is that Hunyuan is trained on a wider set of movie types.
neph1 is hunyuan good at image gen?
cutetodeath78409597 I haven't really tried before, but did so today, and I have to say: "yes". A few examples (original resolution): https://civitai.com/posts/21088977
neph1 damn thank you for taking the time! im going to try that out now :) you are the best.
what is the speed relative to wan 2.2?
cutetodeath78409597 Don't have any numbers, but it's definitely faster.
Can't help but agree with @cutetodeath78409597 I love this style lora and hope you continue doing these! <3
