SDXL LoRA to replicate the style of 1990s PC adventure games by Lucasarts (Ie: "Monkey Island", "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis", "The Dig"). Trained on over 80 screenshots from various early 90s point and click adventure games by Lucasarts (w/o the menus).
Trigger with "lcas artstyle" - (as in "LucasArts artstyle")
Dreambooth was used to train the base SDXL 1.0 model. The LoRA was extracted from the trained model via Kohya script.

Just wanted to give you props on the file naming, it's a little thing, but the small bit of effort there saves every single downloader from having to rename, and that's kinda big. It's such an issue here, we appreciate that minimum effort when it is made, thanks!
Dude. I grew up with Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (I have still the CD-Rom AND 3,5 disks). This is marvelous, thanks for this!
Nice! Likewise! Although, I'm pretty sure I downloaded it off a BBS in the next town over ha.....good ole' days....

Loving the idea! Did you try traingin it on 1.5? I have a feeling the resault could be even better. I hope you'll have a spare moment to test it in the future.
I haven't, but I should. Haven't gone back to v1.5 in a while, but will try next time I do. Thx for the comment!
I typically roll my eyes when I see a LoRa or TI for something that models already know - and LucasArts Adventure Game Style is a style I've used quite a bit on my art models.
This one is an exception - from the preview images and the couple of quick low-rez generations I just tried on my own - this adds a LOT that wasn't there. I want to play more (and do them with proper upscaling and whatnot so they look decent).
Thanks a lot for making and sharing this! Some of the scenery ones look like I could pretty easily convert them to use in Adventure Game Studio with minimal masking and other post work!
Thank you so much for the comment! I'm a big fan of AGS actually, but have 0 coding skills so I just check their site every now and again to see what's new. If you ever put a game/demo together that uses any art made w/ the help of this model definitely lmk! I could add a link to the description.....
Hope all is well!
If your only understanding of LoRAs is to make rote copies of the style in question, then maybe you should spend less time rolling your eyes and more time learning how to use SD.
@oloaio That's not my understanding of LoRa's - it's just the nature of most of them that come by on the New Models timeline - 60-70% of them are things most of the models already know - and quite often, already do better. And I was complimenting this one for making obvious improvements. That's all.
@iamxenos I'm sorry but you've once again missed the point. The fact that a model knows a style does not in any way, shape, or form, take away the from the utility of a "redundant" LoRA. While LoRAs are often, perhaps overwhelmingly, simply used to generate images of anime bimbos in Style X, this is NOT the limit of their utility. Their true utility comes in being able to fine-tune their application up against other LoRAS in the generation of new styles. While vanilla SDXL might very well know the Lucasfilm Style, trying to find a way to mix it meaningfully with another style in a vanilla SDXL prompt is basically impossible or an exercise in gacha dice-rolling.
This is great, thank you for creating it. Very similar era/pixellation level, but do you have any plans to do a similar thing for 90's Sierra games?
I do actually! I'm just not sure if I should base it one game (ie: King's Quest), and then if so often there were two versions.....or could go middle of the road. I actually think there is a LoRA on this site based on the "SCI" engine version. I didn't grab it to see how well it works though. I'd likely end up doing something based mostly off KQ1 (the 2nd release) or Space Quest 2/3.....loved those games also! Hope all is well.
@DSlater I would be happy to see any version. Look at my avatar 😀
@DSlater Nice, will be glad to see what you do next.
Could you possibly give some example prompts of how you generated these images. I can't seem to get this to make anything even remotely resembling the screen shots you have shown.
Hey! All of the image have the full prompt to make them on the right side of the screen. I may have used controlnet or something unique on a couple, but I usually make it a point to just make TXT prompt based images for samples. There is a trigger for this LoRA, that being "lcas artstyle", you have to put that in your prompt somewhere. Otherwise I'm not really sure why it wouldn't work. It for SDXL - so if you're trying to use it for a model based on v1.5 it won' work. Are you using A1111 (or Comfy)? A simple test would be just to type "lcas artstyle" as the prompt + the LoRA <> code and see if that generates anything in this style. I haven't seen anyone else mention problems so hopefully it's just an oversight somewhere that's kept it from triggering.
I am loving this style! So nostalgic and cozy. Please make more vintage video game resources!
