There's there's a section of a book(A Billion Wicked Thoughts) about this topic and there's a presentation from Talks at Google that covers futanari that I would recommend anyone check out.
In short, women with penises can be seen as hyper feminine(and therefore more attractive to people attracted to femininity) because they have a masculine part juxtaposed to a feminine body. It's a bit like something tasting sweeter with a bit of salt.
I personally don't see it as gay in the slightest and I honestly think people should stop asking themselves if something is considered "gay" since what counts as "gay" changes a lot. Case in point, I have heard wiping one's own butt called "gay" which...well that is a take. Just like what you like and don't worry about what others think about it.
I know it can be difficult but I think the world would be better if everyone stopped kink shaming for harmless stuff.
