Sloane Crosley (b. 1978) is a writer of both fiction and nonfiction. She first gained attention through her humorous essays, many of which were collected in her 2008 book I Was Told There'd Be Cake. (She'd previously spent a decade working in book publishing, primarily as a publicist, and her writing reflects that life of the Manhattan-bound creative professional.) Two more essay collections, How Did You Get This Number and Look Alive Out There, have followed, but she's also branched into novels. The Clasp came out in 2015 and Cult Classic in 2022, both published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux and all, like her nonfiction, lauded for her easy wry wit.
