Sir Isaac Newton (1643-1727) was an English mathematician, physicist, and astronomer, widely regarded as one of the most influential scientists of all time. Born in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, he attended Trinity College, Cambridge, where he developed his theories on calculus, motion, and gravitation.
Newton's seminal work, "PhilosophiƦ Naturalis Principia Mathematica," published in 1687, laid the foundations for classical mechanics and introduced the laws of motion and universal gravitation. His contributions to optics, particularly the study of light and colour, revolutionised the understanding of these phenomena.
Newton also served as the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge and later became the Master of the Royal Mint. His legacy continues to shape modern science, making him a pivotal figure in the Scientific Revolution.
