Illustrious Beast Mix XL is basically Illustrious model version for AI Beast Mix . Similarly, this is a model merge to achieve semi-realism result for furry character with NSFW kink such as muscle or hyper.
Illustrious is really annoying to generate male character because it's more favor generating female character despite the prompt not mention any female related prompt. I admit the quality result is nicer than Pony but the prompt itself just... not a fan. Anyway, feel free to sure, I may not update this model anymore.
Please check recommend prompt guide below or any of the sample image. I feel with these as base really does helps get the model to work properly.

What does color prompt mean?
furry, human - This mostly help to determine the subject of the character
furry, anime - Low key furry tags does help it get the style you need but I feel having anime prompt in does help it to get sorta "kemono" style, this main for the furry head.
1boy/1girl , Flat chest - illustrious model use danbooru prompt if I'm not mistaken. Instead male, change it to 1boy and female to 1girl. Flat chest does help make it not to generate breast if you're intend to make male character or femboy. I believe some tags still favor to female character like fox.

i've been a long time beastmix user, as early as 2023 man
so glad to see ur finally branching out to other base models, especially illustrious!!
In my experience, Illustrious XL responds more strictly to Booru type tags than Pony XL does, so using things like "1boy" or "male focus" instead of simply "male" seems to work a little better in achieving male subjects, although anime models always seem to favor females anyway. I've found looking to the AIBooru Wiki website for recognized tags helps to get the results I want when using these kinds of models.
Yeah, I'm aware it use Booru type for tags. What frustrated me when adding "1boy" or "male focus" it still generate me female character. I have to add flat chest to make it not giving character boobs. Alternative adding "bara" would help but that just give me muscular men. Sometime, it doesn't want to generate what I put in the prompt.
A lot of anime male characters look like short haired tomboys anyway
@Stinkek true but there are still standard human male character like Ichigo, Gintama, Mashle, Jotaro, Denji and etc.
