Sorry for the lack of metadata in the images, my A1111 wont load any SDXL VAE for some reason so images are no good and Civitai wont take my ComfyUI metadata....
Will post new images when my WebUI works again...!
StarCitizen XL is the successor of Scrap Shitizen
SDXL being what it is, the results can be astounding even if you don't want to make spaceships. It will produce gorgeous mechas, armors and other mechanical things.
Recommended Usage
My only recommendation is to use manufacturers and/or ship models from the Star Citizen game, see the list of triggers for the main ones. Using only the tag cig or star citizen will trigger the LoRA overall but it might not provide results as good as simply mixing manufacturers and/or models.

which model did you use?
some prompts would be nice to help out a bit.
Thanks!
@Suzanne, thank you for your comment! I am using UnstableDiffusers for all of these pictures but have gotten good results from the base-model as well!
Regarding the prompts, I've built an auto-prompter in ComfyUI specifically for this LoRA but every prompt goes something along the lines of:
action shot of a [manufacturer] [spaceship] [object (spaceship, robot, mecha, cyborg, etc.)] [action verb] in [location].
Overall the manufacturer and or spaceship model really goes a long way! If you are not familiar with Star Citizen ships or manufacturers you can find a list of them on this page: https://starcitizen.tools/Ship_manufacturers
I hope it helps and I'm looking forward to seeing what you will make!
@braintacles Thank you for your quick reply.
I've seen the spaceships on the site, but I'm not getting anything comparable.
you say using unstable diffusion friends is it compatible with stable diffusion XL and you don't say which model you are using.
@Suzanne the model I'm using is called Unstable Diffusers! https://civitai.com/models/84040 Sorry for the misunderstanding!
I don't think you will get exact replicas from the ships from the game but more the design language!
For example if you use banu you should reeeaaally start seeing very nice curves with nice details!
If you use argo you should start seeing more geometric shapes and simple design!
anvil and aegis will give you more rough and military-style results while drake will also add an industrial touch!
What I do most of the time is mix spaceships made by a different manfuacturer, i.e. Argo Defender. The defender is a ship made by Banu but Argo will give it a more geometrical shape.
Please try some of these prompts:
- action shot of an orange argo defender mecha walking in a solarpunk city filled with vegetation and gorgeous architecture, caustics, lens flare
- action shot of a white origin merchantman spaceship flying over a vibrant dystopian cyberpunk city at dawn
- wide shot of a gray crusader reclaimer robot fighting spaceships in a war zone, explosions, smoke, volumetric fog
Let me know how it goes!
@braintacles OK, thanks a lot.
I had not seen this unstable model for SDXL. it looks good. I'll try it.
@braintacles Wow, that's awesome!!!
it works great with sdxl unstable, but gives less good results with sdxl_v10_VAEfix and Dreamshaper-XL, but I haven't done much testing yet.
what do you think of my first image?
Thanks for your help!
Any suggestion on how to have a top down view of a spaceship facing the top of the image?
Hey @rogerbacon ! To have a top-down view, the keyword above should help! To have it point up might be a manual process like rotating the picture, looking at the dataset, I think it's very likely that the ship will point left!
Hope it helps!
interiors, we need interiors
I hear you @sarayel273 ! It's on my To-Do!
So far, what do you think of the CitizenCon? personally, it blew my mind on several occasions. And the biggest news, first revealed on Hugo Lisoir's stream in an interview of Brian Chambers by Commander Fran: SQUADRON 42 IS FEATURE COMPLETE!
Haven't had the chance to watch yet! It happens in the middle of the night here in Japan....it's great to hear SQ42 is moving forward....I still have to see it
Hi, braintacles, I have a problem.
I'm trying to create a lora with only 20 images in Kohay_ss.
I've done a lot of tests with different settings but I set the parameters quite low it seems but I still have a pretty high rendering time (more than 5 hours)...
I've seen quite a few tutorials that explain the settings but it's extremely complicated.
So I wanted to know what software you used to make the StarCitizen XL lora?
I see that you set STEPS: 36 000 and EPOCHS: 16
but can you share your setup and tell me which parameter I should modify to save time without losing quality?
I've also run tests on Civitai with 148 images, but the results aren't very good...
If you can help me it would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Hey @Suzanne do you use Discord? It might be easier to explain there, you can find me under the same name! The reason I have so many steps is because my dataset had more than two thousand pictures! I used Kohya but there's so much to share I fear this might not be the most convenient place to communicate them, at least until DMs are implemented
Wow, this is awesome, braintacles.
As someone who has worked on Star Citizen in the past (I created the original Star Citizen flight model from 2013 to 2018), I'm delighted to find this. I've since left CIG and returned to work on indie games, and I've been learning SD as a way to create concept models for ships in my next game. I'd love to chat with you about your experiences creating high quality spaceships in SD, with or without this SC Lora. Do you have a Discord channel?
That's amazing Zyrain! You can find me on Discord as braintacles, feel free to send a friend request! Would love to hear about your work at CIG and your current projects!
Great Lora, Super powerful. I personally use it at a lower strength, around 0.4-0.6, and am getting stunning results.
please make this for Flux version
