LEONID VLADIMIRSKY — EMERALD CITY & SOVIET FAIRY-TALE ILLUSTRATION | LoRA (Krea2)
One weight slider — and the frame fills with the bright, densely detailed fairy-tale world of the Magic Land: yellow brick roads winding through painted fields, emerald towers under golden suns, tin men with oil cans and straw-filled philosophers with kind painted faces. This is the illustrator who gave Soviet readers their definitive Wizard of the Emerald City — and every scene is a complete, populated, richly ornamental storybook world.
About the Artist & The Style

Leonid Vladimirsky (1920–2015) is the legendary Soviet illustrator whose gouache plates for Alexander Volkov's Wizard of the Emerald City cycle became the canonical visual language of the Magic Land for generations of readers.

Signature Concept: The complete storybook scene. Vladimirsky never paints empty icons — every plate is a full narrative moment: populated crowds, layered landscapes, ornamental architecture, and props that tell the story without words.

The Manner: Bright saturated gouache with watercolor softness. Confident decorative line, rich ornamental detail on costumes, architecture and metalwork, slightly caricatured but always kind expressive faces.

Palette & Light: Jewel-bright storybook color — emerald green, gold leaf, sky blue, poppy red, warm ochre. Light is warm, even, and generous, like a sunlit page.

The Subjects: Goodwin the Great Wizard, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Cowardly Lion, the witches Bastinda, Gingema, Villina and Stella, the Munchkin and Winky peoples, flying monkeys, the Emerald City itself. Strictly adult cast — all human characters are adults; the fairy-tale peoples are grown little folk; the heroes are ageless adult personages.

Tested Generation Settings (Krea2)
ParameterValueLoRAVLADIMIRSKY_krea2_epoch_20Base modelKrea2Steps8 (Preserves gouache texture and ornamental line without over-blending into digital smoothness)SamplerEuler ASchedulerBong TangentResolution1536×1024 (horizontal storybook plate) / 1024×1536 (vertical character plate)LoRA weight0.90–1.0Positive-only disciplineSoviet fairy-tale book illustration, bright saturated gouache, detailed complete storybook scene
Trigger Words
Core Triggers:
storybook illustration in the manner of Leonid Vladimirsky
,
Soviet fairy-tale book illustration
,
Emerald City gouache plate
Boosters:
bright saturated gouache palette
,
detailed decorative fairy-tale landscape
,
warm kind storybook light
,
rich ornamental textures
,
complete populated narrative scene

Versions
V1 (Epoch 20) — The Magic Land Edition. 40 plates: Goodwin and his forms (1–3), the three heroes (4–9), the witches (10–16), the fairy-tale peoples (17–18, 32–34), the Emerald City (19–21), creatures and props (22–23, 28, 35–36, 39), landscapes and set-pieces (24–27, 37–38), and the final ensemble plate (40).
Rights & Ethics

Unofficial style study capturing the Soviet storybook gouache manner of the Magic Land cycle.

Strict Age Discipline: the canonical child heroine is deliberately absent; where the traveler appears she is reimagined as a 25-year-old adult woman.
