Life stuff and immediate future update

Most of these are preemptive excuse making I guess, I notice I write alot of those. There'll be a fight with the text parser I'm sure.

I have some thoughts on civitai and the AI industry here along with personal news too. Oh, and I don't look like that guy on the cover image, at all, case you were wondering. He just happens to embody this mood (and he has a whole Flowers for Algernon-esque plotline too!). I look more like the kid off the cover of Evil Empire + another 25 years odd if you can picture that.

And on that note, adulthood man. Don't take this is as a lecture from me on your civitai lifestyle, cuz it definitely isn't, its just what I like to think of as forced maturity by circumstances. Which was alot of Goldie Hawn plots back in the 80s!

Without sharing every single little detail in my life (and you guys know plenty if you read my image posts and these), my wife got a good work from home job she starts Monday. Not enough that I can retire to a life of whipping up grilled sandwiches and cleaning the pool for her whilst sipping a diet coke in front of a dusty gas station mind ya (and isn't that the dream!), but enough to get by till (if) I find something. I do think at worst alot of the market insanity (inanity) will start to subside by Presidents Day.

We (me and wife) got one office (which I'm typing this from), and it has just enough room I can stick her on the other side. We're getting one of those folding room dividers, but needless to say, me tooling around on civitai (or most places) during her shift wouldn't be looked upon kindly, that's even if I was strictly doing PG nerd stuff.

And, I still have to find a job. Anything more than a low accountability work from home for me is going to mean I don't get much time here. Was it Bill Burr who said something along the lines of, guys don't lose interest in guy activities, we just kind of stand on the shoals waving and screaming: "I'D LOVE TO FELLAS, I JUST DON'T HAVE TIME ANYMORE!"

And lets be honest, I have lots and lots and lots of other things I could and should be doing rather than be on here.

I'm not totally going if I can help it! I'm not saying that! But my bandwidth is gonna reduce here, and hey, that's marriage, before we even get to the job piece, let alone being responsible with my time. Definitely worse excuses to make.

And it reinforces this next bit very nicely, because I'll admit, I've been slipping. I figure anybody who's clicked on me in awhile has seen this, I've got it right there in my announcement because I want it seen, and its going to stay front and center probably forever:

And I still mean what I said. Once bitten twice shy. The generator is down today, which I don't hold against them, BUT, there have been countless issues with the lora trainer. I had a bunch of loras ready to go, and I keep pushing them back for lower stakes stuff IF I ever take the plunge again because I just don't trust them not to charge me yellow buzz or garble the results or count a sleeveless t-shirt as adult or who knows what. I'm not optimistic about the site.

In general, seeing lots of AI degradation across different sites (chatgpt, grok, though I think google will emerge as a survivor). The companies took a pounding in the stock market, and it might not happen this year, but I'd think by summer of next at the latest you're going to see the bubble pop. I try not to get political on here, but if you followed this election, data centers were not a winner and neither were alot of the corporate heads pushing them. While I love AI for SOME things, there's been so much overextension and pushing it in people's faces and trying to use the AI screwdriver as that one weird trick to eliminate frontline support and butter your toast and manage our nuclear missile strikes and what not, we're overdue for correction. There's rumblings, its going to happen. I can't win a Pick One to save my life, but there's some things are just an inevitability...Mr. Anderson.

It'll hurt in some ways, but honestly, it'll be ok. Its like when they thought the answer to anything and everything was offshoring or self checkout (x10 at least). This hasn't been sustainable for awhile. Me, all I ever wanted was to gen my characters, and maybe write a quick novella about Tony Soprano and Dracula having an extended fist fight.

Well back to me. Happy wife got her job, she's one of those types has to feel like she's contributing (not me!), and I suppose I oughta do some more of these hour long unpaid assessments for some outfit on the other end of the country that at the last minute is going to tell me, ha, "remote" means you come into the office two days a week. I cope through humor man! I do alot of coping!
